Best Robot Vacuum For Thick Carpet and Pet Hair

If you have pets, you'll need an automatic vacuum cleaner which can cope with fur shedding and other hair-related dirt. Pick a model that comes with a large trash bin and can empty the bin.

Look for models that have clever features like scheduling or a smartphone app.

1. Neato D7

The D7 is the most powerful model in the Neato robotic vacuum line. It is extremely navigable and is controlled by Alexa or the app. Contrary to other robots that struggle to navigate rooms without a clear map the D7 makes use of advanced sensors and lasers to make an electronic map of your home. You can set virtual "No Go" lines by clicking your finger. This means that the D7 will avoid areas where it is not recommended to go (without the necessity of barriers or towers).

The cleaning capabilities of the D7 is impressive. It can pick up 99.8 percent of Cheerios that are scattered across the floor. This is a little better than the Roomba i7+, which only manages to collect 94.6 percent and the Shark Ion R85, which only manages to collect 100%. The D7 can also be able to move smoothly on both carpet and high-pile carpet.

Another feature that is great is the option to select between two different levels of cleaning. The Eco mode operates the vacuum more quietly and extends the runtime, whereas the Turbo mode provides a more powerful cleaning. Turbo mode is very loud, which can be annoying if you are using the D7 to watch television or work.

The D7 is one of the few robots that can create and store multiple floor plans, which is ideal for multi-level homes. It also comes with a quick boost feature that allows it to return to its base, recharge and resume cleaning. This is especially useful when you're cleaning difficult areas. Neato's mobile application is easy to use and regularly updated with new features. For the price, this is among the top robots for thick carpet and pet hair available.

2. Eufy RoboVac ElevenS

The Eufy 11S, like the Neato D7 is sleek and low-profile. This helps it go under couches, beds, and coffee tables with greater ease than other robot vacuums can. It also comes with some new features that make it easier to clean and get to wherever you want it to go, such as the no-go lines that you can draw on maps that prevent it from cleaning delicate areas like pet bowls or beds. It also has an auto recharge and resume feature that, if the battery fails to charge before it finishes cleaning it, it will automatically make its return to its base for a charge and then picks up where it began.

The RoboVac 11S performs better than its predecessor, the RoboVac 30C which is eufy and also better than the ILIFE A4s and the bObsweep Bob Pro in our tests. The dirt compartment is bigger, it has a longer battery life, and it clears more debris on everything from plain floors to carpets with high and low pile. It is also better-built, easier to maintain and has lower recurring costs and can maneuver itself more efficiently.

It's not the best robot vacuum for floors with no carpet however it's a good option for those with medium carpet and pets. It uses random navigation to navigate through the room and can feel its way around obstacles with sensors that are housed in its front bumper and underbelly. This isn't as sophisticated as the mapping technology found in other robots, but it does the job well enough and gets to nooks and crannies that other robots cannot reach. It comes with spin brushes to clean along walls, and a 0.6-liter dust bin. It comes with an actual control that has a monochrome screen and a charging station. It also has four side brushes that can be attached, two extra filters and the cleaning tool.

3. iLife VS3 Professional

If you have pets, you'll require a vacuum strong enough to take out pet hair. It sticks to floors and rugs and can make even the best robot vacuums struggle. I determine how much cat and dog fur robots collect from the floor by taking a look at the amount of hair they can pick up. I also test whether the robot can maneuver through common terrain. This includes how it maneuvers over the threshold, around furniture and table legs and under the couch. Some robots can map out their homes, making use of sensors to feel their way around during setup and build an image of the house. This helps them better avoid obstacles in future cleaning cycles.

The iLife V3s Pro excels at navigating household terrain and is one of the most affordable models we've test. It also performed well on my tests to remove pet hair, snagging nearly all of the hair from hardwood floors and just a little lower when testing on carpet.

Unlike many other robot vacs, the V3s Pro does not use a traditional brush roll. It relies instead on two side brushes rotating to push debris loose and towards a 3-inch opening at its base. This is a less reliable carpet cleaner, however, it's still impressive given its low price.

The iLife V3s Pro is also capable of mopping. It does a decent job on floors that aren't clean and picked up faux Christmas tree needles as well as bits of tinsel and mud-like pieces in my mopping tests. That said, it's not as efficient as the top robot mop.

4. Roborock S7

Roborock S7 robot vacuum is a fantastic value. It boasts impressive technology capabilities. The mid-priced model works as well as many high-end models and is simple to use and maintain. It also comes with a broad variety of high-end features that are similar to the features of robots that cost twice its price. It is a great option for first-time buyers, those upgrading from an entry-level model, and anyone looking to cut down on time spent cleaning.

This robot can be used on both carpet and bare floors. Its suction power of 2,000Pa is sufficient to take on heavy-soiled carpets that are thick and densely soiled. It's even able to clean pet hair from crevices and cracks in bare floors. It's sturdy, moves smoothly, and supports Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant voice commands to allow hands-free operation. The battery is smaller than other models we've tested but it's still got plenty of juice to power most homes.

The S7 is also a fantastic mopping robot. It includes a 200ml water tank and a mopping plate that easily attaches to the back of the robot. Simply add water and a microfiber cloth, and the s7 will automatically start mopping your floors. The s7 will automatically turn off and return to its dock when the mopping is completed.

Its companion app is easy to use, with a slick layout and plenty of functions. You can draw a map of your home, establish virtual boundary lines that the s7 can't cross, establish zones that are 'no-go or simply tell it to clean a specific room. You can also look at its maintenance history, the current status, and track its performance.

5. Neato Q5 Pro

The Neato Q5 Pro is a multi-purpose robot vacuum that excels on bare floors and clears up a lot of dirt from carpets of both high and low pile. It feels impressively solid, comes with a wide suite of navigation features and is easy to maintain. It has a shorter maximum battery life, and has more regular costs than other models.

The Q5 is among the slowest-moving robots we've tried, but it has an efficient layout algorithm that doesn't need babysitting beyond its first run through an area. It begins by tracing a perimeter and then fills the interior with parallel lines. After the work is complete, it returns to the charging station if it was not at the base.

It did a very respectable job of cleaning hardwood floors, sucking up at least 88% of the dirt for each test. It had more trouble with low- and high-pile carpets, but still performed better than the average unit. It also has a mopping attachment to clean up wet spills. We didn't test it.

Its maneuverability is higher than average for a robot with lidar, and it is capable of gliding over furniture and other obstacles. Its navigation system is able to detect stairs and multiple floors, which allows it to deal with multistory homes. It can also identify individual rooms if you choose them on the app. It can also alter its power level, establish no-go zones and show the map of the cleaning area. The Q5 can be controlled via the mobile app, as well as voice commands from Alexa Google Assistant and Apple Siri.
